Kaitlyn's 7th Birthday

Kaitlyn is growing up. She is very independent and loves to discover new things that she can do by herself.  She likes to vacuum and take care of David. She insists on making her own sandwiches to put in her lunch for school and insists on walking home by herself (ok, with a pile of neighbor kids). She loves school where she has gained a great Spanish accent and continues to devour books- fairy books of all kinds being preferred above anything else.  She still loves to perform and, thanks to her piano lessons, sits and plays and sings along to all the songs she is practicing for us.  She is a Daisy Girl Scout extraordinaire who has the promise and law completely memorized and is a great example for all the new girls. She is still a sweet social butterfly and my best helper.  We love this girl.   

 

Kaitlyn had a Narnia Birthday Party this year.  She made all the invitations herself (they looked like little wardrobes and opened up to reveal the party info.  How did I not get a picture?)

Narnia is all the rage in our house right now and Lucy is Kaitlyn's very favorite Character.  (Here she is with her hair like Lucy's and her makeshift candles in a cookie!)

 We started out the party making paper snowflakes and beaded snowflake ornaments as Narnia was in the grip of the evil witch and it was always winter! (coincidentally it had snowed that morning...) 

 Then we went for Hot Cocoa and snacks at Mr. Tumnus's house.

 After eating we headed to find Aslan and were startled to hear bells ringing and Father Christmas appeared! Kaitlyn opened her presents and then each kid got their own gift- a special cape to protect them in the upcoming battle!

 "For Narnia!"

 They also received swords as they prepared to close with the enemy...which happened to be dozens of evil balloons which were attacked and defeated!

At the end each of them was crowned a King and Queen of Narnia (Aslan joined in the festivities here) These kids eyes were just sparkling with excitement as we led them to the battle in their new costumes and were so fun to play with!  Parties are fun with these older kids!

 The kids tried on the fur coats from our "wardrobe" that they passed through as they waited for their parents to arrive.

Definitely a fun and successful party for our sweet 7 year old!  Love you Bug!
