Kaitlyn's 6th Birthday

My Kaitlyn turned 6!  I'm not sure I believe it, but she insists that it is so. 

She is still my best helper.  She always helps with her siblings, doing chores around the house, and anything else we ask of her. She loves to be involved in projects and is now often coming up with her own projects and complex games.  She likes to do things herself, but doesn't like doing things alone. She and Anna get good games going all the time and Bug has a special bond with David and is so sweet to find games that he can play too.  She loves, loves school and is loving learning to read.  She amazes me with the words she figures out on labels, signs, and everywhere!  She is also a wiz at math and numbers.  She is very friendly and social as has tons of friends at school and church and everywhere to say hi to, talk about, and make cards for :)  She loves to draw and our house if filled with her pictures and notebooks full of drawings and lists.  She loves to smile and have her picture taken. She has lost 2 teeth and loves having long hair. She is amazing.  We love her so much.

 

 

This year for her friend party, she asked that we have a How to Train your Dragon party. 

 

We started out coloring pages of dragon pictures and then got right to the good stuff with cupcakes!  She was so excited to have people sing to her! 

 

 We went on a treasure hunt looking for dragons and followed the clues all over (We were so glad it was warm enough to be outside!)

 The clues led us to a nest with a dragon egg inside (which looked remarkably like a potato...) and we had an awesome time playing a game of Pass-the-exploding-Dragon-Egg!

 Because when dragon's hatch-the eggs explode!  (everyone knows that right...)

 It was a hit!  So many giggles!

 And after all the dragon eggs had hatched, um...exploded.... they got their dragons! 

Stick dragons that they learned how to train...

First by meeting it...

and learning how to ride... 

 And then we had Dragon races!

 And obstacle courses and other proven dragon training methods.

 

 Even the littlest mastered the skills and had a great time with his pet dragon.

And finally, after the presents were opened and the guests gone, I found Kaitlyn like this.  I think the party was a hit.

 

And then we got to party with all her grandparents!  As soon as people started arriving she was excitedly asking when they were all going to sing to her.  She loves traditions and knew just how she wanted things to go!   

 There were balloons and food

 and great company

and of course presents.  When we invited Grandma Carol to the party she asked what she could bring and without a moment of hesitation Kaitlyn said, "Presents!"  Love this girl.
